stopped by a friends shop yesterday, they've been working on a f350 powerstroke diesel ( 97or 99 not sure which)
when they step on the pedal with the motor off theres plenty of pressure.
as soon as they start the engine and try to press the pedal again it goes to the floor, no pressure
there are no leaks.
they've replaced the entire and I mean entire brake system.
were talking booster, master cylinder twice, diaphragm that leads to the booster, lines, brake lines, calipers, rear cylinders, pads, shoes, basically you name it they've replaced it.
they removed the abs and spliced the line about the third day to no avail.
these fellas are seasoned pros that run a custom and repair shop. but their not too net savvy so I told em Id jump on here to ask.
thanks all for your time.
(heads back over to the 73-79 f150 section)

There is either air in the system, not enough fluid, or a vacuum issue. BTW, if they are not too savvy, I definitely would not have them working on the brake system on my truck!
not my truck and they did great work helping me rebuild my 77 f150 suspension and tranny.
resolved btw folks, damndest thing, when put in gear and allowed to run for a bit pressure built, and has held, weird doesnt begin to cover this....
dunno how putting it in gear makes a difference, but that system doesn't use vacuum, it's hydroboost. Runs off the PS pump. Probably needed to purge/bleed itself.
