So, what brands are out there, and what are decent?
I have had KC daylighters on my truck twice, and the darn things rust out.. I dont want junk, and sadly KC is not holding up. The rust is on the inside of the lens area, not on the outside.
One of my buddys has 9 lights ranging from big HID's to annoying little road lights and for the last 2 trucks he's had he runs all PIAA brand lights (4-6" in front) and has never had to replace them. I have 2 pro comp brand lights (5") but they are pretty cheap and the outside of them are rusting on me but i have not had to replace those either and they have been on my truck for 3 years without a problem.
Pat if you still have the KC's............ NEST has a powder coating setup. Compliments of Jim (rat46f6) I know he is getting ready to do a set of wheels for himself.
I've had Hella's on the front on my truck for 3yrs+ now and no signs of rust inside. They're the older Hella 1000s that aren't made any more except in the Black Magic series. You'll pay some $$$ for Hellas, but some times you do get what you pay for.

The powder coating would be the outside though, correct? Otherwise you loose beam focus?

So I have a vote for PIAA and Hellas.. should have made this a poll, shouldnt I have?
Lightforce are the toughest, brightest I have seen. I think Riffraff has these for sale. Tom, mndiesel has a pair of these maybe he will chime in. You can shoot the lense with a .22 without damage.(company advertisement)
My 9" lights are like Brendans, they are old style Hellas (mine are not blackmagic). I ordered them in chrome way back in 2001, and within 3 years the housings started to rust. I buffed the housings with a wire wheel, shot a coat of Zinc-Chromate primer on them, and then hit them with black pray paint. it takes about 3 years for the paint to start wearing off down here in the south, and when it does I just re shoot them.
