I was wondering if someone could give me a ballpark estimate of what it would set me back to change over to 4.30 gears.I have a 2000 2WD V-10
I'm in the Phoenix area if anyone knows of a good local shop.

Should be about $750 per axle, parts and labor.
P.S. you might want to consider going to a lower gear than that (higher number) if you do a lot of towing. I, personally, want 4.88:1 gears.
dont forget that some X's came stock with the 4.30's. you have a lifted X, bigger tires and tow? I have a dadge ram 2500 with 37's and I have 5.13 gears. it will smoke the tires shifting into 3rd gear easily.
Price suggested seems about right, you might get it a little cheaper as a package deal with a good shop.
Also as suggested - why 4.30's? I'd spend some time with a conversion calculator to find out what ratio puts you where you want on power band and RPM's with the tire size you plan to run. If you are changing - you might as well do it right.
Pricing stated above seems about right, I second (or third?) the suggestion about making sure the ratio you choose will fit your needs. Most reputable shops can also help with this. I'm not sure where, but there are charts for tire size vs. gear ratio on the web somewhere also.
