Excursion "No throttle" story
Driving my '03 Exc PS this morning, and suddenly, I'm idling, no throttle, and no gauges. ???
Turned on the flashers, idled to a parking spot and called Ford. Of course, their response was, we'll tow it in, and you probably need the throttle assembly replaced.
Been down the dealer pathway before, so somewhat skeptical.
Pulled the fuse cover and started checking what appeared to be the most likely fuses. No luck.
Still unwilling to use Ford, I pulled out my phone, brought up Google, and did a search for "Excursion no throttle".
Immediately get a hit on a thread on this forum that describes the same problem. Tells me to check fuse # 45 (I think, maybe 44). Regardless, sure enough, blown.
Steal a fuse, switch it out, and bam, I have throttle again.
Got the car home, got on a computer and looked closer and found the section of the thread where member "dothadamthang" had described the problem, how to get under the steering cover, and had taken pictures of the wires with the problem. Again, mine was virtually identical.
Taped it up, put it back together, and I'm confident all will be good now.
Just wanted to share, say thanks to "dothadamthang" and to the forum in general.
Isn't technology and the internet great!!!!!
