Diagnostic Codes/ODO Tricks

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Jan-02 AT 02:12 PM (EST)]Another post in another forum got me thinking. I used to be able to pull the diagnostic codes on my Bronco...a simple process. It made it very easy to diagnose any problems, and saved hundreds on dealer visits.
I have searched this and other sites for my question, but I have not found anything...I was wondering if it is just as easy (I'm doubting it) to pull the codes on my Expy's? Or does it require a fancy "code reader"? I have heard of some ODO tricks as well. Can anybody shed some light on this? Any help appreciated!
