Down on power
I do think the injectors are dribblers.
@F250: I'm gonna start reading now but I think you're telling me to time the pump. I am gonna tickle with it a little but not 'till I have a way to watch the EGT. A turbo comes right after the A/C install!
Who the hell orders a truck with no A/C!?
I did pull the machine over to the other job today. The truck did fine. 20 MPH in 2nd gear up a 15% grade about 600 feet. I does 35 MPH @ 2000 RPM in third (1:1 TC lock). Without the "soup bowl" blocking the plenum, it makes power 'till 2500 RPM and will pull 'till 3000 before it starts a bangin'. On level ground, it'll go as fast as I'm comfortable with. About 50 MPH around here.
I have to move it again on Sunday. Lucky for me, all my jobs are within 5 miles of each other.

I figure, loaded it's 27000#.
im hoping it just needs a charge.
well,be careful cus bad injectors can damage pistons.that banging/knocking your hearing isn't good.hope you can get them looked at before hauling much more.
dang, she did pretty well considering your limping.
turning up the fuel and seeing black smoke rollin' behind you is when you need to watch EGT's.
adjusting the timing if need be,will only help things.
take Daves advice, and check the injectors before you do anything.his experience with IDI's is second to none.
the prices for these old girls are nothing like the powerstrokes.
we can get a whole set of 8 injectors brand new for under 200 bucks.
That stuff is supposed to be AWESOME for fuel treatment if you have a water in fuel problem!
-Enjoy
fh : )_~
WOW!!! No brainer!I should probably go ahead and get some kind of timing light that will work for my truck and Catsubishi and Komatsu as well. My Mack is a different animal.
What is the trick pump timing for one of these old corn binders?
10-15 MPH on a really steep pull I can live with but 8 MPH Uh....NO! The TC came unlocked and I know the stator was spinning like a SOB. I need a monster tranny cooler if this truck is going to survive.
So far everything I've done has improved the situation a lot. Hopefully the new injectors will make as big a difference.
