Smile Newbie here needs help

Hi everyone,

I am a proud owner of a couple of Ford trucks. My most recent truck is a '73 Ford F600 Dump body. Real nice truck, my dad has owned it for several years and now he is handing it over to me. My problem is, I want to know what size engine is in it. Can anyone point me in the direction of a "serial number reference guide" on the web?

Thanx and Happy Trucking
David S.

Thanx Mil1ion,

I do believe the motor has been changed out but am not certain. Here is the info I have right now.

firing order = 15428376

This doesn't look right, are you sure it isn't 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 ?
Which btw,is a popular firing order

C7TE 9425-K
This just tells you it's a Intake manifold that was deigned for a 1967 truck engine that has had 9 changes made since the 1st design

7L7 = cast on 196(7) (November) (7)th

Do the spark plugs goes like this / / \ \
or like this / / / / ?

million, you mixed up the firing order in your post. maybe that threw you off. the truck should have a FT engine. a 330, 361, or 391 im pretty sure. if the intake goes under the valve cover and makes up part of the head thats what you have. the FT engine family is very closely related to the FE family which includes the 360, 390, 427, 428, ect. there is a FE forum on this site that can help you with any identification problems or anything else if thats what you do have. by the way, welcome to FTE! hope i didnt confuse you any

Thank you two,

Your help has been great. Right now all I need to do is rebuild the carb and she will be up and running. It sounds like the people here are very well informed and I look forward to long relationship with Ford-Trucks.com.

Once the snow decides to stop falling out of the sky, I will get out there and piddle with the truck. I will check the plug directions and the head bolts the next time I can lift the hood.

Thanx again and God Bless
David S

By the way, HIGHLIFE comes from Steve Winwood "Back in The High Life Again". "HGLIFE" is my license plate for my 2001 4x4 Power Stroke crew cab dulley. I dont drink High Life beer, nor do I get high.

I have this exact same problem, a 1971 F600 with the C7TE 9425 manifold. The spark plugs on the passenger side are in the \\// configuration. The VIN calls for a 330 2V FT stock. I cannot find any numbers on the block as I am looking to buy this truck and cannot disassemble anything. Just wondering what the difference in plug angles mean since you mentioned it. It does have the 5 bolt valve covers and a 2bb carb. I know I'm resurrecting a very old post, but I'm getting desperate.

Thanks

\\ // is the way the spark plugs are oriented on the side of an FE block. The front 2 plugs are angled towards the rear and the rear two are angled towards the front. The angel is 35degrees or less I believe.

So then it is probable that I have a 391 FE instead of the 330 FT?

thanks
