Where can I get a oil filter for my 1953 Ford F100? I know it's the cannister type of cover...any suggestions where to find a replacement filter? Thanks!
Take out the long bolt down the center, popthe lid off. Replace the gasket (it is frequently stuck hard inside the lid). You get a gasket with the filter.
One other thing - don't try to pre-fill the canister with oil. Just re-assemble it all dry, refill the crankcase and fire you engine. Check your oil level after it runs a few minutes and of course watch for oil pressure to return to normal. If it doesn't happen instantly when the engine starts, don't worry....it takes a little bit with a system you've got.
