-While towing my 18' ski boat today, down a 13mile stretch of 55mph highway, i got into town and started to slow down to 35, but slowly decrease in speed. when i was almost completely stopped(for the red light), my oil light came on. I quickly shifted to neutral to shut down my truck, and the light turned off. put back in drive and it starts to blink. but stays on until i give it some skinny pedal. so onto my ? -why would my oil light come on all of a sudden, and why does it turn off when i put it in neutral(its an auto trans).
-would engine temp. have anything to do with this? the temp gauge was almost to the far right H side.(and any ideas why it got so hot??)
The rpms increase in neutral versus in drive. So, for example, if you have less than 5 psi in drive, the light comes on. Shift to neutral and you get 7 psi, the light goes off.
There may or may not be a problem and the best thing to do is get a mechanical oil pressure gauge so you know EXACTLY what is going on.
well i pulled it home this morning, before it got 95degrees. didnt have a high engine temp. or oil light come on. im thinking some of my engine heat problem may be comming from the fact that i dont have a fan shroud, but at 60mph the air should be blowing right through the radiator. which now means i have to pull my boat up to *******,mi with my pathfinder...i know, im heartbroken...
