Just picked up a 95 F-350 Crew Cab that is in great shape mechanically but cosmetically needs some work. Since this is going to become a "family truck" I will be knocking off some of this stuff as I go along. First order of business is a new front seat. It has torn up pretty bad plus it's the solid bench and the adjustability is terrible. But I have a line on a split bench at a local junkyard that I'm going to check out tomorrow. The next big issue is the bed. It is dented up pretty bed on both sides towards the rear as well as the tailgate is in bad shape. So I'm looking for used beds.
What years will just bolt on? It's a long bed with dual fuel tanks so I need both of those openings on the driver's side.
Thanks. That's what I'll look for. The truck I pulled the front seat out of was a 95 F350 but the bed was worse than mine. I'm sure one will turn up though. In any case, the better half has made it clear that the interior is the priority first anyway. I've pulled out both seats and am steaming / shampooing the L out of the thing. It's pretty filthy.
Followup question. When I do find a bed (seems there are tons around to choose from), about how heavy will it be? How many guys should I plan on for the swap? I'm thinking 3 per side?
as long as your friends aren't all 125lbs and wooses... 4 total should be fine... 1 per corner. I loaded my rust free bed to a precarious trailer to haul home with 3 guys total and most of the time only 2 of us were lifting... it's less the weight and more the ackward size and having to balance it...
whats a fair price to ask for a 87-96/97 8 foot bed for dual tanks with tailgate, spray in bed liner, diamond plate rails, rear bumper, and taillights - all in excellent condition? only issue is some vey slight rust on outside skin above passenger side wheel well. otherwise rust/dent/scratch free all with original paint.
i'm in the northeast, so most local beds are rusted up pretty good. the only nicer beds i see are on the gargaed show trucks that only come outside in nice weather.
i'm looking for some input as i'm getting ready to sell mine and would like to know a fair asking price. thanks.
your selling the bed or the whole truck with the bed? is the rust through the metal or just a surface bubble? I guess either way it's rust... Only way to fix it the right way is going to be major chop, grind, patch and repaint... post pics of what you have and the specs on it and we can usually give you the best ball park number for what you have.
no, its just the bed with tailights, bumper, and tailgate. the rust was just a bubble when i bought the truck, but i cut it out and painted it with rust bullet to prevent it from spreading. about an 8 inch by 1 inch section of the outside skin was cut out.
i love the looks of the bed on the truck, but its gotta go as i need to install a dumping flatbed on it.
there are pics at this link. pages 1 and 2 have the best shots of the bed. look closely above the passenger wheel well and you can see what i cut out.
The ones I have seen around here have been all over the map. Anywhere from $150 up to $600 or so. I'm expecting to find something decent for $300 or so. Of course, it won't have all the bells and whistels yours does (bedliner, diamondplate,etc.).
