Julie, yes I did get it hooked up and correctlly Imight add...lol I called the guy from Rebel Wiring this morning and we came to the conclusion that the selnoid might be stuck open. When I take the ignition wire off the selnoid and touch the poss batt cable the truck tries to start and it shouldn't do that. This weekend I'm going to get a new selnoid and regulator, then everything electrical is new except for the ignition switch and Ill order one of those aswell.
Wooooo Hooooo, I finally got her fired up today. The guys at Rebel Wiring were correct with the solenoid, it was stuck open I guess. I replaced the solenoid and went ahead and put a new voltage regulator on it and once I figured out it was 180 degrees out and fixed that she fired up on the first turn. I have a small vid of her right after I got her started I put on YouTube, not sure if its done processing yet or not so if it doesn't work try again here in abit. Hope Ya like....
Thats sweet! Can't wait till I get to that point. When I do I will probably sit there and listen to it idle for hours...I'm just weird like that LOL. (not really hours but I would go into the garage every day starting it up just to listen to it)

I've been waiting on this for along time. This was one of those "To Do's" that most people have but hardly finish but when she fired up I just got all happy. I even called the wife at work and told her to listen for a second when she finally stopped talking I started the truck up, reved her up a couple times and she said "you called me to listen to you start your truck" and I said yes dear....lol
A good women and a good truck is a great combination. You are smoking along on that build-I pulled my body off two years ago and my buddy has just put the engine in. Keep the pics coming.
thanks , Mike

Thanks, my plan if it works is to have her at least put together enuff to take it to cruise night next month. I wont have everything done but if I can drive her there I will be super happy. The wife was laughing at me today because I was out backing it in and out of the garage...lol
Quick update, after a rought week I was able to piece her together enuff to get her back on the road for this weekends cruise night. I put 20+ miles on her today, the first test drive was just around town for about 8 of them. Then I drove her to Virden which is about 8 more miles one way. I stopped off at autozone and picked up a air breather since the big one wouldnt fit anymore. I didnt have any problems so if it doesnt rain tomorrow I plan on taking her to work to show off to all my army buddies... Heres a quick vid the wife took, hope ya like...
I missed this thread when you started it, very nice truck and in very nice shape. Was that a rattle can bed liner you used on your frame, looks good. I was also curious about the crome grille, is that original as I always thought the 56 was the first to have a crome grille or is your truck a Mercury.

It was the roll on bed liner from walmart but I did use some of the rattle can liner for some of the hard places and any little nicks and such. I'm not to sure about the grill, last week when Kevin came over he asked the same thing. He also thought they were painted. The bad part is I'm going to end up painting it because there is some rust on it in all those little nooks and cranys...
I love that sound and it sure looks good too.
What make are your headers?
Those are the summit block hugger headers, they are nice but I had to do some modifications to them to use them. The starer was in the way so I had to trim part of the flange off and on the drivers side I had to trim part of the motor mount because it was hitting it. I have a brand new set of the long tube headers for it but once I got those on it I decided to keep them, that ceramic coating looks good on that motor...

Too bad there isn't a way to polish it up as I think it is pretty rare to see one in crome. It might be worth while to talk to someone at a replating shop to see what it would cost to redo unless there is rust through. I kind of like the 55 grilles a little more than the 56's, maybe it's because you don't see as many of them. I have a crome 56 that is badly tarnished and dented up that I will likely just hang on the wall of my shop. Back to the topic of your frame though and the bed liner, it looks really good and cleaned things up nicely.
