Deconstruction has started...
Hey Tard, I can't tell for sure which six you pulled out, but if it's a 240 or 300 truck six or a 250 car six, the 289 will bolt right up. Those three six cylinders shared the small block bellhousing bolt pattern. You may already know this, but just in case you don't, do NOT use the flexplate off the old engine or you'll have serious vibration issues! The six cylinders were internally balanced and had a neutral balance flywheel/flexplate. The 289 is externally balanced and will need a 28 oz. imbalance flexplate. If Ford would have thought about what they were doing, they should have had a slightly different bolt pattern on the crank for each different imbalance factor so that it would be impossible to put the wrong one on - but they didn't. If you do have to get a different one, count the teeth on the six cylinder flexplate and get one with the same number of teeth. It should be either 157 or 164 teeth. Your starter will still work, too.
Yes the old motor was a inline 250 and it had a 157 tooth flywheel. The new flywheel I ordered was the 28oz 157 tooth so as far as know I should be good to go. I'm hoping to mock up the engine next weekendand maybe start putting the front clip back on. The rest of this weekend is clean up and getting the bed off...

I figured that you had probably already accounted for that on the flywheel, but I thought I ought to mention it - just in case. Did that 250 run OK? If it did and you're going to get rid of it, let me know. I'm just over here by Lafayette in IN. I was going to pick up a 200 core to build for my dad's Mustang, but a 250 would be better!

Just a quick update guys n gals. I got the new TCI sizzler C4 in last week and got it hooked up to the motor (fits like a glove)... I also got the motor and tranny in the truck so now all the fun stuff starts. Lengthening wires for this and that, trying not to scratch all that pretty ford blue paint or chrome. Oh yea...kicking myself in the a$$ because the headers I bought wont fit unless I remove the crossmember thats right under where the motor and tranny come together... Anyhooo here are a few pics, hope ya like...

A shot from the pass side, and yes that bedliner is holding up real good...lol

The drivers side view...

Cant see it all that well but thats the pretty TCI Sizzler C4...

And finally a quick front view... Hope Ya'll liked...

Okey Dokey guys n gals, times getting closer. Ok a few pics before I try to start her up, while I'm still happy and haven't run into any problems...lol Hope ya like....

If I get her started up and she runs halfway decent I'll try to post a quick vid of her...

Looks great! I will point out one thing, though. It looks like you have your oil pressure sender screwed into the rear lower left side of the block right behind the header. There isn't any oil pressure port back there on a small block Ford. The only thing that I can think of back there would be block drain for the water jacket. The only oil line pressure port on these engines is the one just behind the fuel pump mounting boss. It's above and to the left of the oil filter. In the picture it kinda looks like there's a plug in it.
I got the same engine. I agree with Blueoval, the oil pressure sender is in the wrong place. I can't tell how easy it will be to remove the plug. But that's where it needs to go. Looks great, did you ever get the timming tab?
I was wondering about that, I'll get it changed tomorrow. I seen some pictures where it was up front and on my old motor had it in the rear so I just copied that. I wasn't able to get her fired up today, for some reason when I try to start it and turn the key off it continues to crank over so I think I may have a wire on wrong since eI'm useing the HEI distributor so I have to call rebel tomorrow to see if I have something hooked up wrong. I can't wait to hear her fire up though...
