Head question

I am rebuilding my 429.I want to acheive 600+ HP , I have a set of c8ve heads, and a set of d0oe-r cobra jet heads. Could I get 600+HP out of the c8ve heads? If so I could sell the cobra jet heads and lower my costs a bit. I am running off road only, mud bogging and drags W.O.T all the time.

Will my stock crank hold up to that kind of power?

It'll take a little more work to do the C8 heads but it can be done. I myself won't sacrifice a set of CJ heads. I have 2 sets & it kills me not to but...

BTW, I make over 700 & spray it & have no crank problems. Even went 8800 on a slipped second gear on the spray. Bearings are almost new looking!

for what your going to pay to get the C8s reworked to make 600HP, you could get a set of aluminum SCJ heads or Edelbrock Victor JRs.
What compression, cam and carb(s) are you going to run? 600 from a 429 is a little tougher - have you though about a stroker kit?
Check out the 385 forum (link from my gallery). If you haven't been there before - you'll be surprised at the wealth of info on heads, cams, etc.
Good luck,
Mike

I have decided to use the cobra jet heads. I must use iron heads to stay in my pro street class. so aluminum is not an option for me.
