I have 08 F250 SD, today I had issues with the truck..stumbing during take-off. I thought it was a transmission issue...test drove the truck to recreate the problem. I had a check engine light....the code is PO088, I think it has to do with excessive fuel pressure..high pressure. I got the info from autozone on the code...it was not in my code booklet...
I would like to ask the following..
What can cause this....
Can it be covered under the 200K, 23 major engine components..
I have 117,325 miles on the truck, I get the fuel filters replaced every 10k miles.
This is probably the code:
P0088 X X Fuel Rail/System
Pressure - Too High
This error will be set if the fuel pressure in the rail is too
high and the controller cannot regulate it to the setpoint.
20 % “overposition” of
the PCV [% PWM]
3% deviation of the fuel rail pressure
to the fuel rail pressure setpoint
Low pressure system, wiring to
VCV and PCV, FUP sensor, pump
So I think I would start with the wiring and sensors to see what is wrong. This is an item that should be covered under warranty.
Ensure you fuel filters have been changed before you take the truck in. All services up to date. Just to be safe.
The truck is stock, any fuel filter replacement is done by the dealer. I always supply the Ford filters, they were changed at about 115k miles...The truck is at the dealership at this time ....just dropped it off. I think I might have to part with money....I'am questioning if it will be covered under the 200K / 23 major eng componets....
Well I was at the dealership today..to drop off the external transmission filter, I going to get the transmission serviced since the truck is in the shop. I was told that the HP fuel pump is bad...and the repairs will be covered under my 200K / 7 year 21 major engine componets...warranty. I bought my truck in Sept 07 so it's a JOB 1....bad design of the HP fuel pump....I was told...It did not go bad because of the preventive maintance...that I do or the dealership has done. I keep very good records and was told I would not have any problems...I'am just very thankful...for purchasing the ext warranty...
Great news on your warranty giving you coverage. Thanks for the post info guys, it's nice to have a clear thread title and a concise resolution so that anyone who has this issue in the future can do a quick search and all will be solved in a matter of seconds.
I something to add....Today the service advisor called, he stated that yesterday....Ford put a hold on the repair. This morning a Ford Rep....arrived at the dealership to give my truck a inspection....I think they were looking for MODS.....lifts,big tires, performance chip....anything from what I could tell ...that would void the warranty. I have kept the truck stock....because of the warranties I purchased durning the 3 year / 36k miles time peroid. I have always taken care of the preventative maintance...So I wasn't expecting any problems, The repair was approved by the Ford Rep....and the service advisor placed a call to me....I asked that all TSB be looked at and if any could be done...while the cab is off....Any TSB work, I will be glad to pay for if needed...If anything else comes up...I will let everyone know...
