need lift advice again

ive been reading all over this website as well as a few others about lifts. for right now im thinking of going with around a 2 inch lift all around. ive got 31x10.5 tires on it now and they kind of rub when i cut it real sharp. would a 2 inch lift help with that any? also im wanting to go bigger eventually. my long term goal is a 4 inch lift but for right now just a 2 incher. my question is if i go with a 2 inch lift now will i be able to use any of the parts later on to get a 4 inch lift out of it? im trying to buy a 2inch lift now and then when i get ready for the 4 inch lift not have to go buy a whole new kit and be able to use some of the existing 2 inch parts.

so my questions are what kind of 2 inch lift would i have to have to be able to use some of the parts on a 4 inch lift?

and what size tires do people usually run on 2 inch lifts and 4 inch lifts?

thanks guys.

I have a 1 1/2" lift (f250 coil springs in front) and have 32x11.5 tires on it on stock rims. My truck rubs as well when you turn it hard but that is the tires rubbing on the radius arms. Lifting your truck a little won't get rid of that. You would have to lift and run different rims for backspacing to keep them from rubbing. You could also run spacers but I highly recommend against it. As far as using something to lift it 2" now and then get 4" later is going to be difficult. From what I have seen most 4" lift kits are achieved with springs and then they use drop down brackets for the I beams and radius arms. Most 2" lift kits are just springs or spacers. The springs are different between the two kits. I guess you could get the 2" spacers or 2" springs for now and get the other later but most people on here recommend against spacers for a lift as well. Just my 2 cents.

would i gain anything from 2inch springs in the front and then the drop brakcets later on? as much as i would like to save on the spacers vs the springs im probably going to end up going with the springs.

are longer shocks needed on a 2 inch lift?

You could do a 2 inch body lift for now then do a 2-4 inch suspension lift later.

Your factory shocks will be fine with a 2" lift. Anything bigger than that and I would definitely change them out for longer ones. The drop brackets for the radius arms and I beams are more to keep your steering geometry correct for alignment than for lift. The taller you go with I beam the more \ / you will get. The drop brackets will help keep things straight so that the alignment bushing can do its job. I am also not a big fan of body lifts. I feel like it makes your truck less safe in the event of an accident. also you lose use of your bumpers. NO THANKS!

2" springs can't be used with the drop brackets, the brackets are made for the 4" or 6" lifts. Best thing IMO would be since the rubbing is probably on your radius arms and not your bumper is save up for the 4" lift and get a different offset wheel. Even with the lift you will most likely still rub your radius arms.

my 16x10 w/ -25mm offset worked really good, but they stick out quite a bit. I don't remember the stock offset, there like a 15x7 so probably a 4" BS? Do you want to stay with a 15" wheel?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ameri...mZ380201482017

These have a -30 offset those shouldn't rub the radius arm at all. Unless you went to a really wide tire. If you want to keep the 31 or go to a 32x11.50 you should be fine.

im wanting to stay with the 15" wheel for now because i have brand new 31x10.5 tires on it. they dont stick out very far on mine though. actually they dont stick out past the fender wells at all. isnt the stock bs supposed be to around like 3.25 or something?

ive been looking at wheels and pretty much have my heart set on a set of beadlock or simulated beadlock wheels. preferably all black. the ones i like the most so far only have a 3.75 bs though and its like a 15x8 or 15x7 rim.

Just remember, any bigger than 31's and you will want to re-gear. I had 33's on my 3.55 truck for a few years thinking it was ok. I just put 31's on it and it's a whole new truck - I would never put the 33's on it again.

Just adjust your steering stops so you can't jam the tire into the radius arm, get nice new wheels, and call it a day. I had to take the 3" body lift out when I went to the smaller tires - it looked really ugly. Lifted and small tires = bad, big tires and stock gearing = bad.

would 33's and 3.55 be too bad? ive got 31's and 3.55 now. i might just go with the leveling kit in the front to make it look a little better and get some different wheels. this is my daily driver and the gas mileage is seriously sucking.

anyone know what the stock wheel backspacing is? and about how much backspacing i would want for the tryck not to hit the radius arm with 31x10.5 tires?

All i can tell you, is that yesterday, I drove my truck with 33's, took them off, put 31's on it, and I would never, ever put the 33s back on.

This was my F150 way back when with a 4" suspension in the front, hadn't put the blocks in the back yet at the time. 15x10" eagle wheels and 32x11.50 tires.

do you guys think a 4 inch lift with 31's would look bad? i may just go with the leveling kit in the front and the add a leaf in the rear. that would be much cheaper.

still trying to find out about the wheels and backspaccing?
