I’m looking to drop a 351W in a ’77 F100. The truck is just a weekend toy that I occasional use to pull a car trailer. No racing, pulling or anything like that. So I found a 351 that’s been sitting in a garage corner for a couple of years. The guy said the car was running when the engine was pulled, but that’s been a while. Once the engine is dissamebled, I’m assuming that all required internals, valve train will come with the Cam kit. If not, what internal parts would be recommended for this set-up, and can any of the original parts be re-used? I’m trying to keep it as simple as possible, so this is what I’m looking at:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o> </o> 351W Block<o></o> 351W Stock Crank<o></o> GT 40 Heads ( I know I will have to drill the bolt holes bigger, but is any porting required?)<o></o> Comp 35-234-3 Cam – (Is this a good choice? I’m looking for a noticeable lobe but nothing extreme.)<o></o> Edelbrock 600cfm carb<o></o>
ok. dont know whats with all the little faces.... but, you should be fine with what you have. not sure bout the heads needin ported. should work i would think, or maybe just ported to match. internals should all be good. for comp valvetrain, you cant go wrong. HOWEVER, as popular as the their cams are, im a firm believer that crower has a better cam, hands down. its up to you, but if it was me, id get comp train, and a crower cam.
well, youd just need the correct length pushrods to go with the lifters and rockers. heres a PDF of all the cams crower offers for ford. just find the one for your motor that matches what youre wantin it to do.
