Rust Stories on your dentside

I was just wanting to hear some interisting stories on rust. Iv got one thats pretty funny and i figured that if i had one everybody else might have a good one also.

So here it is.... My dad has a 1978 that he bought brand new(now has 350 some thousand miles) and about 5 years ago we were out checkin cows on the four wheel When we got done we jumped the 4 wheeler on the back of old red and the 4 wheeler litterly fell through the floor of the box. We both knew that it was gettin bad but neither of us thought that it was that bad. But now old red has a brand new flat bed on it.

Just thought that id share that story with you.

Thanks for readin,

Lane

The spare tire fell through the bed floor on my dads 1979 F250. The truck was a left over and purchased new in 80 then my dad got it from the original owner in around 84. First thing he did was pull those inner wheel houses from the rear wheels. As rusty as that truck got to where the spare tire fell through the bed floor, the area above the rear wheels on the bed never rusted out with those wheel houses out of there.

my dad ordered his 77 with dual tanks, but when it showed up it only had the rear tank, so the dealer installed a fabricated aftermarket tank that saddled the framerail on the drivers side. after collecting and holding mud for 30 years i pulled that tank out and the frame was rusted through about an inch wide and 3 inches up from the bottom it was completely gone. as was the fuel line to the rear tank and the rear brake line that ran along the frame there. i have replaced the rear tank (which was also rusted out) and lines and patched the frame, but i still want to find a good frame to start my build on.
