What would you pay for it??
I have a 360. Gathering up parts to make it a 390. I placed a add looking for a 390 crank. I have no clue what the going prices are on used parts. So i will place his reply on here. I hate when people say make me a offer. His reply....
I've got a block pistons rods and a crank in very good shape pulled
cause we found a crack in the lifter valley still all together minus
the heads sitting under a bench in my shop just make a offer and I
might take it I don't want to pull it apart but the block is trash it
was the best running 390 I've ever seen it just had water in the oil
What would be a good figure to shoot at him?? Also the issue he had.. could there be anything wrong that I may need to look for?
Thanks
Marty

Offer him $100 and go from there. Unless you can inspect and check it, you don't know what kind of shape the crank is in. Same goes for the rods.
You might end up using them for cores.
What you do know isn't good:
-there was water in the oil.
-the block is cracked.
There may be some bearing-related issues that could have caused damage to the crank and/or the rods.
What you don't know could turn out to be very expensive.
-How many miles are on it?
-Is it on its first, second, or third life?
-Can the crank can be worked? The guy has to understand that
the value of that crank depends on its ability to be machined.
Otherwise it is just scrap.
It's a big risk to take...especially if it could cost you hundreds of dollars and get you nowhere.
I personally would offer $150 for the crank, rods, and heads (again, if they were GTs) given all of the unknowns. He may not take it, but he sounds like he's tired of having the stuff in his shop. It doesn't sound like he's gonna do anything with it, and folks aren't exactly scrambling to grab this stuff up anymore. You may need to let him think about it awhile. Make sure you give him your number so he can call you back.
