You cant have too many CCAs the starter will only draw as many as it needs. WTF combo of batteries are you running to get 4000CCAS?

four of your regular 1000CCA wired in parallel would do that, actually I've been thinking about it myself lately... Where are you going to install the extra batteries?

So you can get ten 15-second cranks to purge the fuel system, instead of only five on a good day

More cca's isnt neccesarily a good thing. Batteries get more amps by adding more (meaning smaller) plates in their cells, which cuts down on how long the battery can maintain a load. Lower cca batteries use fewer large plates so while they may not whiz the motor over as fast on a cold day, on any other day they can handle their rated load longer than a high cca battery.

and thats not true at all. size plays a huge role, but just because your battery is 200 cca doesnt mean its going to last as long as a battery with 800. and dry cell, agm and standard batteries are all breeds of a different animal.

Just a thought on the winch, would it be better to isolate a couple of deep cycle batteries with a diode?

Yup thats how a lotta people do it on offroad riggs have the alternator charge all the batteries but the winch only draw from the deep cycle that way if your trucks in a possition it can't run and you use your own winch to get it out once its back on its wheels you know you still have juce to start it, if you buy one of the pre made kits it will also have a swich so you can jump it off the deep cycles if you ever need to.

Get one with a Yanmar Diesel engine and tap into the lift pump or perhaps remote mount the engine in your utility box and just run the hydraulic lines up front..

Or just get a huge front bumper...
