my truck died five times in a matter of mabybe fifteen miles you guys told me earkier to replace the return lines and check the fuel lines im getting that done on monday is there anything else it might be?
could be a worn lift pump and or a worn ip too.but you were told right.simple/cheap things first before jumping to conclusions.
do a search for "testing lift pump" or "fuel pressure flow test" -key words like that will get ya going.its pretty simple and easy to see if your lift pump is working ok.
1 very common place is where your fuel lines connect to the metal lines going to the water seperator, could be anywhere from the tanks all the way up to the IP. Do you notice any fuel leaks or strong diesel smell anywhere??
Injector Pump...Its at the front of the engine right in the middle, with fuel lines coming off the back.If you decide to monkey with it please ask first!!! Thats how I found this forum!
o ok haha that makes alot more srnse know ok so i have an appointmentment at the local ford dealer cuz im scarred i would screw it up but should i just have them look over the entire fuel system? im having them replace the lift pump return lines and check the fuel lines
AAAAUUUUGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! FORD DEALER!!!! Be careful, those can be wagon loads of money! Just make sure the mechanic is a Real diesel mechanic, not the service managers pimple faced nephew working there for the summer! I say that from a previous experience many years ago, thats why I learned to work on my own stuff!
Yup,,,just be careful and dont let them take you to the cleaners, dealerships and old trucks dont always go together,,I guess there may be some honest ones out there but I aint never met one!!
very same dishonest ford stealership experience here too.
but i didn't pay.i didn't let him rook me,and he knew he couldn't make me.
never been back, only for parts, and only when 100% no other option.
