Wheels

What are the wheel size options on 08-10 F250s and what other year OEM will fit correctly with the same offset and backspacing?

My truck has factory 20"s but I may need a wheel/tire with more sidewall for rough use so I am researching options like OEM 18"s. I guess I would have to maintain the same overall tire height for the computer related suff + MPG?

Thanks..

17,18,20" rims, depending on the trim level. I believe 2005 + up will work.

I will second it. In 2005 the bolt pattern changed for the dually. The SRW trucks kept the same bolt pattern as before, but changed back spacing. You could use the Tirerack website to give you the optional sizes through the years, but you might find it difficult to find many tire manufacturers for the given size.

So I can search for 17s or 18s. I imagine replacement tire wise the 17s would be the cheapest?

I have 20's on my truck now so I guess I should I try to maintain tire height as to no adversly effect final drive ratio. Do our trucks have speed sensors at each wheel?

Thanks...

Yes you have speed sensors at each wheel. You would probably be able to find someone who would trade you wheels. It shouldn't be hard to find someone wanting to go from 17s to 20s.

Not looking to trade

I am not looking to get rid of my 20's, just looking to get some wheels and tires that are more rough use friendly - driving through yards, plowing snow, etc. I do like the 20's look.

Is it important to maintain tire height with our trucks for the speed sensors or will I just throw the speedo off?

I am in Maryland.

Thanks...

Unless you're going to some crazy bigger diameter, it'll just throw off the speedo some. When I changed tires last Jan., I went from the stock Conti's (approx 33") to Toyo Open Country A/T's (approx 35"). My speedo is now off by 2-3 MPH, so it's just a litle bit off. Staying as close to factory tire diameter as you can is your best bet.

TPMS

This is my first dance with TPMS. I assume that my 2010 with the factory 20s have TPMS. I am looking for winter wheels and am thinking about factory 17s or 18s. Did either come with TPMS? I assume that I will get a CEL or other warning if I run wheels/tires without TPMS, right? Is there a way to tell from the outside if a wheel/tire combo has TPMS?

By the way, the Discount Tire Tire Calculator is awesome.

Thanks....

I don't think that you would be able to tell the difference just looking at the rim with a tire mounted. The sensor is mounted on the inside center of the rim with a steel band holding it in place, its not in the valve stem. I wish I didn't have it as its a pain in the butt everytime that tires are rotated.

Tires

What is needed when you rotate tires?

I guess finding older 17's or 18's got that much harder as I will have to have TPMS' installed, right? How much does that run?

Thanks..

The front tires are set at 65 psi and the backs at 80 psi. So everytime the tires are rotated you have to recalibrated the sensors to the correct pressure or the light will stay on saying low pressure. That is of course if you adjust the pressures accordingly. I have had to do it before after the Ford garage rotated them but did not adjust the pressures.

TPMS

Gotcha. Sounds like TPMS is more a pain in the butt than anything else. I have always regularly checked air pressure in our tires.

Oh well, back to the hunt for 17's or 18's.
