Sucking air somewhere?

Hey guys, My 76 with a 360 has trouble running right. I rebuilt the carb and it runs better, but not good. It has an automatic choke. Even after the truck is warmed up it still needs to be partially choked. I have checked and replaced almost all of the vacum lines and fittings in the intake. By the way, it has a 2 barrel motorcraft carb. If i spray a little carb cleaner in while it is running, it smooths right out or if i choke back the air, it runs better. I am leaning towards taking the intake off and replace the gaskets. Any help would be great, thanks, Edmelott

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me, before you yank that 80lb intake take some duct tape and cover your pcv and breather holes on the valve covers and start the motor, if the tape becomes concave i.e. "dimples" inward you have a vacuum leak at the intake gasket.

also check your carb mount gasket. you just the carb off? with it running spray some WD40 or start fluid (lightly) around the base of the carb. if motor revs your sucking under the carb
