I just got back from driving my truck. I should tell you before I left I had left the key on over night and all day today, and the battery was dead, I had to use my wifes Jeep to jump start it. Anyway, when I pulled my truck back in the garage I noticed that is was making a bit of a whistle from the engine. It was mostly when I first put on the gas. I popped the hood and couldn't isolate where it was coming from. I don't think it has done this before, I never noticed anyway. the higher I revved it it didn't seem to get worse, but I couldn't tell because then my exhaust started talkin. It almost sounded like a whistle from a turbo deisel. Anyone got any ideas. would running the battery dead make the alternator make a funny noise? I know it is a shot in the dark, but has anyone ever heard this from their 5.4? thanks guys
I did just do a quick search online. Just typed in "whistling from engine" into the yahoo. First site that popped up was called 2 car pros or something. it did say that when the alternator is overworked it can produce a whistling sound, so maybe that it is it. It is trying to catch up.
