The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.

And for another point of view -
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

Lets all have a safe, sane, and reverent 4th of July, which we should always remember, is Independence Day.

Agreed. They certainly had more to lose than they had to gain personally......therein lies the true measure of their patriotism, IMO.

No work for me. Today is a holiday.
I think there was some kind of revolution over here last night. I know it wasn't fireworks, because they are illegal in this city. So all I can think of is some kind of war happened.

LOL we best you can do is close the windows and water the house a few times during the night. I did that before I left and then again when I got home last night. Well at least it wasn't as bad as previous years.
