Brakes?

Ok guys and gals here is my question....I have to get brakes tomm. and put them on because I have a wedding to go to this weekend....now I was wondering which would be better...AutoZone (Duralast Gold) or Advance Auto (Wearever Gold). Now i know they arent the best brakes in the world but they are better than metal to metal. And i dont think I need them but should I put on the P-brake shoes also? I dont have a lot of cash so i figured I could do that down the line.

I have no opinion on the disk brake pads. They must meet DOT standards to be sold, so they will stop your truck.

The parking brake shoes do not usually wear much at all, as they are not used to bring a truck to a stop, but only to hold it there. Do they currently do the job?

About the only thing that causes them to be replaced is if a rear oil seal fails and they get oil-soaked, so if nothing is worn, or oiled, just leave them alone and save the money.

About the only difference that you will see between the different brands of brakes is how long they last. If you are short on cash now, use the cheapest ones. You might have to replace them 10 or 20 thousand miles earlier, but you might have more cash by then. Some brakes have a lifetime warranty, which means if they come apart they will be replaced. If you wear them out, then that is their lifetime and your warranty is worthless.

As Pop said about the parking brake, if you have not driven with them on and the axle seals are still good, they should be fine. My axle seals went out and saturated mine, so I replaced them (and the seals). If you are having problems with them not holding the truck, they can be adjusted.
