Torque Converter Problem?
I just bought a 2006 F150 5.4 XLT A/T. with 34,000 mile on it. I like the truck a lot, rides much better than the 2002 F250 i got rid of for it, but that was to be expected. However, i have noticed that when on any kind of grade, facing either uphill or downhill even in a very slight grade, if you take your foot off the brake pedal (while stopped) the truck really drifts down the hill. IF your at a stop light on a slight grade and take your foot off the brake pedal you will drift and i mean drift fast in the opposite direction of the gear you are in.
Example. if you are in drive, and facing uphill you will drift backwards. If you are in reverse and facing downhill, you will go forward. Is this a problem? I've never had a truck that wouldn't hold itself in-place on a slight grade. Also, around 2000 rpm there is a very slight vibration coming from the tranny in all gears. Are these problems connected? Does this sound like a torque converter issue to anyone? i was thinking these were signs of a possible failing torque converter.
thanks for any help.
