e-brake not attaching

e-brake not attaching
Alright, I give up...how do I re-attach the e-brake cable? I hooked the new front cable to the pedal thru the floor, put the cable thru the frame hole and secured that thingy...... the cable will not reach the connector to the rear part of the cable no matter how hard i tug it.
Do I just not have enuf lead in my *** or is there some trick to this??!!!

Trucks from `87 to about `91 had a threaded adjuster at the equalizer that you backed off.
If your truck is later then you have the auto adjuster at the pedal and you have to pull hard on the cable to get it to extend the cable.
