What would you do??

I have had my 05 F350 since new and absouletley love it. My only problem is a reoccuring rust issue around both wheel wells. I realize its gonna happen because I do plow with it(very little however) My question is what is the best way to fix it and PREVENT it from returning. I have looked into new quarter panels for it and was considering Por-15ing the bed from the underside then undercoating the same area. Is this the best solution?? Any suggestions please? Thanks so much for your help...

Sam

Move to AZ?

LOL sorry ... Winters are super hard on a trucks body, all the salt on the roads, having the plow on makes all the snow that's falling or blowing get blown right up under the truck and in to the wheel wells, and engine bay.

Are you having trouble with front or rear wheel wells? ... or both .... might be a dumb question as most of the time its both but not always. Im in the middle of rebuilding my 89 and it will plow once it is done. With the front fenders off on the inside I wire wheeled off all the rust I could, if there was stuff I could not get it got sand blasted, Then I cleaned and cut / repaired / replaced bad metal, Once the repairs were done I put on 2 coats of chassis saver paint, let it sit for about 2 days to dry well, then I took a scotch bright pad and scuffed the paint up some and put two layers of fiberglass over the area, let it cure, scuff / sanded smooth and painted with chassis saver. I hope it holds up a while only time will tell.

The rear ( bed ) is not been done yet but I'm thinking I'll do the same there too.

You live in Illinois, call up Ziebart; I lived in the Chicago area as a kid and we had it done to our
brand new 1977 LTD II, I don't remember seeing any rust in the almost 15 years we had it. I
have no idea how they'd feel about a 5yo vehicle, though.

Thanks, believe me there are no dumb questions here. I appreciate all the help and guidance here. The rust is only on the rear wheel wells, however it's rusting from the inside out. Which is the reason I was lookin to replace and start over. I swear this is the only flaw on the truck. As for the the Arizona deal... You're not the first person to suggest it. lol

If it were me, I'd use POR-15 where ever possible. That stuff is for real, and assuming you use it on the backside of panels, it won't show. It'll outlast the truck, in my opinion.

Do you think POR-15 is better then Chassis Saver? If so by how much?

To be honest, I've never used Chassis Saver so I can't comment on it one way or the other. But Por-15 has proven itself not just to me, but to lots of people with old cars (they don't call 'em "Rustangs" for nothin'!) as well as lots of locals here who use their boats in salt water.
