I don't know much about horns. My ford has a stock horn in it, working fine. I was wondering if... I could put a horn, say from an 18 wheeler, in it. And if so, what kind of adjustments must be made to do so.

There are plenty of air horn kits. You will need an air compressor, tank, and horn(s). The kits are small and easy to install. Almost every major aftermarket distributor has them. Go for metal horns. I plan to add some as a second horn after installing an air bag suspension. With that you just tap the horns into the tank for the airbags.

Excellent, excellent. So what would I be looking for in a horn that sounds like a big rig? Such as PSI, or Name.
The best is a multiple horn setup. I like 3 horns, but 2 usually sounds good. I don't know the frequencies, but I think it is pretty standard. I would go with the manufacturer specs on PSI unless you want a deeper sound with less PSI.
After reviewing the list on the JC Whitney site I would select this one.

Nice, nice. Happen to have any good links on specific horns you use? And would the sound still be close to an 18 wheeler's horn setup?

These horns will be loud enough. For a 100% eighteen wheeler horn you will need to go to some long horns. That is why they are mounted on the roof of the truck. Most horn kits aim to mimic that sound or a train. Either work. I will look and see what my boss has on his truck and get back to you.

Are his horns mounted on top? I'd rather make it easier on myself and have them inside. Mostly cause that would confuse me to no end. Hah.
You can find air horns and train horns at most truckstops and usually for reasonable prices. As for mounting, that is up to you. I work for a trucking company and one of our mechanics has a set mounted under the bed on the frame. They point down so they wont hold water and the compressor and tank are mounted on the other frame rail and the lines cross under the bed. Nice set up and boy are they loud. His is a 94 F250.

So they're mounted in the back, under the bed and facing down? Nice. How would mounting on top of the cab work? Would I have to drill holes or anything? For the lines or something?
Yes, if you want to mount them on top of the cab you will have to drill holes for the horns and air lines. I have seen many done this way. Personally i dont like it. I dont want to advertise them, better to scare the hell out of someone when they are not visible. lol

Ahh. So under the hood, pointed straight forward would be a good one then, huh? Hah.
