Hmmm, I hae a bit a predicament.. I am getting all my lines put back together on my 97 DI Turbo 7.3, and as I go, I was able to get all me sensors and electrical back together. I took some pretty good pics of the wiring prior to tear down, and referred back to them when putting back together, but the vaccume lines, not so much. Pics were blurry! Grr!
Anywho, I was wondering where I could reference the vaccume lines, either by site or if someone has some pics to share. Also, on the intake plenums, there is a single vaccume port on each one, where do the vaccume lines (I assume) run to from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
the port on the plenum is for boost, goes to the map on the pass side. my truck only has one port on the plenum. vacuum lines only feed the brake booster and a/c controls.
i just went out and looked again. the vacuum line comes off the vac pump, goes to a "manifold" just in front of the master cylinder on the fender. from there it branches off to the brake booster then to the other side of the truck ti feed the a/c controls.
Gotcha on that one.. The MAP is mounted on the passenger side just under the cowl panel? I see there is another line running from the MAP along the firewall and down.. where to?
The small looking (hose) thing is not a vacuum line. It is a ground strap (flat style) that goes behind the MAP and bolts to the left of the MAP on the firewall. The other end goes down somewhere. I can find the other end for you if you want a bit later today.
i moved the ground strap looking for you eariler. didnt think to mention it. all the other lines look correct. the mapgoes straight to the plenum the other ones pictured are for the a/c blen and temp doors
Your yellow arrow is the braided ground strap on mine rig. There are no other hose going to the MAP sensor. I do see a hole just to the right of the main boost hose connected to the MAP. Is that what you are referring to? If so it probably was connected to a boost gauge, best guess.
from his pic, following the map line down, but not connected to it, that is the check valve for the a/c controls. the space just to the right looks like the map line broke and is just sitting there
