Traction bars and blocks...

So i was wondering... I have a pair of traction bars that are gonna get welded on, so would having these bars allow me to have bigger blocks over my rear axle? I wanna have a 6" block under there

What do your bars look like ? There are a few different designs out there. The right style of a traction bar should help with a block lift.

why do you want such a big bar? traction bars will help, but the bigger block is still gonna want to make it twist.

Eww lift blocks. But yeah, the bar will help, but I'd still worry about axle wrap.

i have the ones you attach mid frame and they are adjustable and then attach to the bottom(?) of your axle, like a lower shock mount for it. I REALLY dont like having blocks dont worry i hate them but i dont have much money for being 15 with no real job, so blocks are really the only way to go. Though my ma said she might buy me the basic 6" lift kit from JBG for my birthday...

longer springs will combat axle wrap and give a better ride than blocks with bars....

they are like $scrap value from junkyards. Find a set from a newer truck (like the 54" chevy) and move your hangers...besides, those traction bars weren't free!

But whatever, beyond the scope of the discussion.

Basically, dude, 6" lift blocks are bad. Even with traction bars. If thats what you got, sure, run the **** out of it, just don't expect it to perform very well.

I gotta agree with hasteranger, 6" blocks say bad idea all of them. Think for a second, lifts are too expensive for you...well how expensive do you think it's gonna get if you spit one of those blocks out from under your rig? It may never happen, and it's your rig, but as the saying goes, I guess you have to be young and inexperienced before you can be old and wise. Out of curiousity though, why such a push for taller blocks? IIRC, you already have cut fenders and you're going with taller blocks...are you gonna go with bigger tires? If so don't tires cost money too?

shackle flip is free if you have a welder and reinforce the factory ones, and thats easily 4" right there. +2" blocks = 6"

While flipping the rear shackle hanger gives you lift there is another almost free option. Take a look at the front hangers on your rear leaf springs. Take a set of those and put at the rear. That sets the shackle even lower and more free lift. Like so:
