I have a 2001 f-350 4x4. I am going to need to replace factory tires soon. The Steeltex's that are on it are great on the road, but I swear I can get stuck in wet grass. Can I get some suggestions for a good all-terrain tire that is bigger than factory(265/75 16) and still be able to retain a load rating of at least a D. I was thinking BFGoodrich AT or Goodyear Wrangler. This is a stock truck and I have no intention of lifting it anytime soon, so they would have to fit well as is. Any input would be appreciated.
I have BFG ATs and they still don't get good traction on wet grass but BF Goodrich doesn't rate them very high for wet traction. Offroad on dirt/mud and occaisonal rocks they do great. Overall I like them. Winter traction has been great so far.
I have 285/75s on stock wheels. Remember if you go to a larger tire you're going to throw your speedo/odo off a little. Mine is off by 2mph @ 70mph.
Your stock tire diameter is 31.8" and if you go to 285s it will be about 33". The 295s are 33.5". Both of those sizes will fit without a lift. I had to pull back my front mudflaps because the inside edge of the tires hit the flaps on a sharp turn. I know alot of guys have tires wider than 295s but I think after that size you start to need wider wheels. I know they fit but even the 285s on my truck's stock rims are wearing slightly uneven due to the tires being a little to wide for the stock wheels.
If you really need better traction in wet grass I'd go with some good all-seasons in BFG or Goodyear up to size 295. If you want or need more aggressive All-Terrains then go with those in either brand.

This might be too late, but I bought a set of Yokohama Geolander AT ++(plus II) and have 9000 miles on them and they hardly show any wear. They still have the high load rating and awesome traction with superior ride noise. I would take them any day over my old set of BFG All Terrains. Much quiter, better wear, and better traction.
They will run you about a cool $700, but you might want to check into it.
replace with Steeltex and don't drive (fast) on wet grass!
Seriously I like the Firestone tires.. wish they made more sizes
I also like the price, around here you can have them for free some places (take offs) other tire shops charge $25 per tire if you get them mounted elsewhere. Tons of owners replace the "Firebombs" the same day they buy the truck...my .02c
Goodyear makes a great A/T that has water channels in it the Wrangler AT/S. It gets amazing wet traction. I have had 3 sets of the BFG a/t's and they do not compare to the goodyear on grass and wet streets, but the BFG is awesome in dirts ,sand, and mud. I run the BFG's on my SD and the wrangler AT/S on my ranger. I had the BFG KO's on the ranger for my first set and when it was wet or on grass that thing slide all over the place. I put the goodyear's on and it made all the difference in the world. I have also herd good things about the bridgestones.
I believe the Michelin LT AT is available in load range D in that size.Great road manners and decent off road.I had a set in15in. and loved them.I went with the MS on this truck to get the E load range. It is mostly a road tire though.
