I about to order an F250 CC and am considering a sunroof. I plan to keep the truck for 10 years. Am I asking for trouble down the road (leaks/repairs). I've had my current F150 for 10 years and have only had to replace the clutch and brake shoes. I'd like to have the same experience with the 250.
Ok I am just curious as to why people buy F250's and not F350's as there is not much difference at all price wise, the re sale is much better, and you have over 1000 lbs extra payload with barely any difference in ride.
As for the Sunroof I have not heard of any problems, but at the same time it isn't a solid roof so problems could happen.
This is interesting info. I am the guy who is getting ready to order the F250 XLT "sport package" and wanted heated seats. (did you ever get my email on that topic?) Anyway, I never even considered a F350, I just assumed that the ride would be much stiffer and harder on the kidneys.
Thanks,
I will take one for a test drive.
Anyone else have any comments regarding the ride quality of a 250 crew cab 4 x 4 short bed vs 350 crew cab 4 x 4 short bed?
A similarly equipped 350 will ride the same as a 250. Get the 350. I did, and I have no regrets. Just make sure the 350 you test drive has the same suspension options as the 250 you drove (snow plow prep package, camper package, FX4, etc.).

One reason for the f-250 in california is that a f-350 quilifies as commercial and you are required to post a CA# on the door. This has not been enforced very much but the word is that it soon will be!

Maybe it's different in Canada, but there's about $1,000 US difference in price between a 250 and a 350. Other than payload, there is no difference between the vehicles anymore. There USED to be big differences in axles, shocks, frames. etc.. but not anymore. 350's come in duallys, and they sit about 2 inches higher, but that's it. They're rated to tow the same weight. If you don't need the payload, save the kidneys and some cash and get the 250.
Sunroofs have been pretty reliable these past few years. If you really want it, get it.
SLURGE and get the 350, ........then take your sawzall and make your own sunroof, if you can find any duct tape and tarps or plastic........there has been a big run on those items, everyone is doing it!! Dan /ft
Hey I got a sawzall! I got a 350 Also. Did it for resale value my uncle who has worked at ford for over 20 years is who sold me on the 350. It cost around 800.00 or so more than a 250 and i dont tow much more than a few dirt bikes in the bed and a pop up trailer. Get the 350 only if you want the resale value. I am not sure how much more resale value they have , just going on my uncles advice who helped me research everything before i ordered and bought my truck! I agree on the tow capacity thing also. Not much difference.
Just a note to add to fishin technicians comments.
Keep it under 50 cuz duct tape is not warrented to hold a plastic moonroof in place at higher speeds.
