A couple of GPR questions?
How can you tell if your GPR is working properly?
And how do you jump across it ?
Do you jump across the 2 big wires with the key on?
I got mega sparks when I tryed that?

How can you tell if your GPR is working properly?
The big terminal with the red boot as a constant 12v. Always. When you turn on the key when the truck is cold, the other big terminal should be 12v. You can check with a meter or a test light.

And how do you jump across it ?
You can jump across it with anything that conducts electricity that is large enough for 100 amps. Like a screw driver or a short ratchet extension.

Do you jump across the 2 big wires with the key on?
Yes.. But don't need the key on. Just jump it and hold on the two big terminals for 30 seconds. If really cold(winter) then a full minute will do. Then jump in and start truck.

I got mega sparks when I tryed that?
yes. you will. It surges 100 amps at first then drops to about 60 amps. So sparks will be visual. (this is why cheap GPR fail, Sparks/Arks) Also the screw driver or ratchet extension will get warm. Almost hot to the touch.

If the GPR is shot, Not working, kaput. Then i recommend the Stancor Relay. It is worth it. You go through as many cheap relays as what this stancor will cost. And the Stancor is up for the task and has been dependable for me.

A couple links.

Check voltage on both big terminals.... key off should be 12v on one and 0v on the other. Key on should be 12v on both for up to 2 minutes depending on how cold it is, then it'll shut off when the ecu tells it too. These tests are engine cold, not sure if it'll do anything when warm.
