I looked at The E350 and the F350, it looks like this mod should work the same on both.
Is there anything diffrent about doing it on the vans? The reason I ask is the single A/C vs Dual A/C, and I don't know if theres more to it than on the pickups.
On the F250 and 350 the heater core always heats the air coming into the cab, even on max a/c.
If you put a shut off valve in the heater hose it drops the air temp by 10*.
The Ex and some crew cabs got it out of the factory, but the reg cabs, super crews, some crew cabs and the vans did not get this valve, meaning A/C that does not work as well as it could.
I just wanted to make sure that the pick up instrutions apply to the dual A/C.
It seems like it should be the same.
Tight under the hood, I do know the rear heat runs across the top of the engine, coming in the passenger side crossing over to the drivers side at the rear. The SC trucks have it from the factory, are you certain the van doesn't also, considering the rear AC blows from an entirely different location, it's not gonna improve. I use the rear more than the front so it'll not gain me, the AC is less efficient in traffic due to design, the hod will gain nothing there.
I have an 89 E150. the AC has never been cold. I thought it was due to being converted to 134a. I was thinking the same thing. when i was getting it ready for vacation. I was testing the system and noticed warm air in the vent mode. I thought the heater valve must be stuck.... Oh it don't have one..... Let me know how it works.
I thought all vans have them from the factory, I know my 88 & 89 does.
I have never seen this on a F-series as it needs the vacuum line that only vans have. Unless they came with an after market heater like my 94 F53 and it is cable operated.

I also have an '89 E150 Club Wagon. When I first bought it, my Mechanic replaced the Expansion Valve on the Rear A/C unit and he told me that he turned off the Heater Valve. And he showed me that it was on the left side of the Engine Compartment between the Battery and the Engine. I live in Florida so only very rarely would need the heater.

Vaya con Dios,

Could be why i don't have one...I don't have rear heat or a/c. Wish i did.
