I came across a really nice set of Mclean chrome wire spokes, 15" X 8" that I would like to put on my 52 F1. Problem is they may have alot of offset. They only have a 205-60 tire on them now but I planned on changing them to a larger diameter. I have mocked up one of my front fenders and put a wheel on, the tire is outside of the fender by a small amount at the top but with lots of radial clearance, probably 4-5 inches from the top of the tire to the fender (this will change with a 235-60 tire). Is anyone running wider tires with a similar offset and is it critical that the tire be inside the fender. I think they will look relly nice with a 225 or 235 tire on them and I would still have over 2 inches of clearance.
measure the back spacing and approx rim width, that would help us with your question. backspacing is measured with rim facing down and measure from where rim mounts to hub to the edge of the rim. use a small thin piece of wood ect.. and lay it on the rim edge and measure down.
They are 8 inch wide rims, 2 inches to inner edge and 6 inches to outer edge.
The rims would not suit a stock truck but will look good on mine. Slightly lowered on the front and back with chrome grill and bumber, then under the hood I have a 255 flathead with dual strombergs and aluminum finned heads. Paint is going to be victory red cab and box with Mercidis moca black fenders.
I have 8.5" wheels from a mid 80's f150 they have 235/75/15 the back spacing is 3.75. I think I could run 3" in the rear but I would not go any lower then 3.5 in the fronts. reference for you..
