See-through filters

When i do the in-tank Hutch mod i want to add a see-through filter between the tank and the rail pump. I want to put it just before the pump.
Brand and PN suggestions?

I got mine from napa bk 7309562. 3/8 inch i/o. Here is a pic of it installed: bk 7309562 (Napa fuel filter) picture by galexander - Photobucket

I would like to install a shut-off valve. Maybe something like this would work: Amazon.com: Earl's 230501 Chrome Plated Brass Shut Off Valve: Automotive

Not sure if that one is rated for diesel?

Holy Cow.. Thanks for letting me know.Grant.. I am sorry about that.. I see the error and the problem with purchasing 1/8 inch valve for 1/4 in hose barbs. I don't think that will work
I updated. Should be 1wmn6

Give Clay at Riffraff diesel a call. I heard he will have a kit for the intake mods and filter some time this week.

In the pic you have 1wml6. What is the difference between 1wmn6 and 1wml6. Looks like the only difference to me is the handle. We have a grainger here locally so I will have to pick one up.

This is the one Chris is using: Baldwin # BF7725 Primary Fuel Filter | Specialty metric screws for your motorcycle as well as Fuel, Lube, and Air filters for your car or truck.

I think it is a little smaller than 3/8 but he was able to get it to seal.

Yes. Round or Lever handle. Either will work. When i got mine a few years back they had a plastic small lever. They don't show that one anymore.

When i first put it on I put the valve on the fuel pump side.. That was a mistake. When i went to clean the screen the fuel poured out the tank end hose.. It was pouring out the tank like crazy.. So i swapped it to the tank side of the filter.. The amount of fuel that comes out of the fuel pump side is manageable and stops in a short time.

I have been using a Fram brand from Wally for years with no problems. It is not specifically diesel rated. I carry a spare as it is cheaper than a pump. I also have downstream filtering in the stock variety as that is cheaper than new injectors if the pump should poop out. The stock filter will flow a bunch.

Mike,

Glad to hear from you and chiming in. What is your opinion on that napa filter? Do you think it is adequate protection for the fuel pump?
