How do all, my name is Wayne and I'm new to the site. I just got my "new" truck the other day, a 79 F250 Ranger Supercab, Camper Special, say that 5 times fast. Atleast thats what the emblems say and from the info that I've been able to pull from some other threads I'm pretty sure that the camper special is correct. It doesn't have the spare well or the pigtail at the rear bumper, that was probably cut out by a PO. From what I can gather I'm probably the 4th. It's kinda rough, but I think that any old Ford truck is worth the effort, yes there are exceptions.
According to the guy I got it from there's a 4" lift on it, looks like it, spring in the front and blocks in the rear. The question is does that affect the sway bars, one of the rear mounts for it to the frame is broken at the threads, so I've gotta replace it, but want to make sure that there's no geometry issues. Read some other threads on this subject but nothing specific to this, I figure HillbillyDeluxe81 might have the answer for me, and no I don't need to take a picture and send it to scary steering
Enough talk, here's a couple pics to get started. As I start tearing into it I'll get some more up, plan on doing an on frame resto.
Looks good 2WD Ranger with A/C. What did you pay for it an what is the history on it? An how bad did somebody rig stuff on it? I got a 74 F250 Crew with no A/C an swapping all that into it an its a fun project ab be even better when its on the road again. How long do you plan to take on the resto? I am doing bout 4 months on it.

Actually its a 4X4, should've said that. The PO was an offroader that abused it pretty good. The one prior to that was a farmer, unfortunately she stored hay in the back of the cab which condensed and rotted out above the rear glass and some underneath, nothin a that can't be fixed.
Hackmaster PO has already gotten to the harness so thats gonna take some work. Already tryin to troubleshoot the brake lights. They'd cut the main power from the fuse box to run the radio, got that fixed. Now the drivers side light won't work if the lights are on
As for how much, $1000.00 for the truck, the canopy was $125.00 and 2 sheets of plywood. He was using the canopy for a roof on the chicken coop. The down side to the canopy is that it weighs more than the bed I think.
And again any tips or tricks on these you guys can give me would be great. Not new to wrenchin, just new to the old Fords, always loved them finally gettin into them.
