If I were possible to disable the warning chime would that hinder the truck's performance in any way?
Where do I find this device in a 1992 p/u and how do I do it?
That sound is driving me nuts!
Thanks.
No, the BING BING BING is constant unless I remove the key from the ignition or the fuse from the panel, which also knocks out the radio and other features.
This problem started yesterday.
How do I disable it and where is it located?

it comes from the GEM module, assumming your door ajar switch is not the problem you can disable it by easily removing the key and tumbler assembly and brake off the small tang and reinstall. no problem
In the older vehicles, the headlight / key chime is an individual module, easy to get to. Now, I don't know about your truck specificly, but in my old 94 ranger the module was a white box mounted under the dash close to the heater panel. Just disconnect the cable.
That stupid, incredably annoying, infuriating chime usually the first thing I remove from a vehicle. Unfortunatly, in my 97 F-150 the stupid module seems to be built into the fuse box somehow, and I can't find a way to disable it. IT'S DRIVING ME FREAKIN' NUTS!
Dear Chimed.
I think Ford had a problem with the door switches on that year p/u. Mine did. Ford fixed it without cost to me. You would be going down the road, and the chime would start, or the door light might come on. I was worse if it was real cold out side. There was a recall. or a TSB on this i think. The switch is in the door jam under the door striker latch point. Hope this helps, if not. Go for the foam ear plugs or loud radio.
