I've been having problems for a while, when I wake up to start my rig, the battery is dead, i mean, bone dead. It takes forever to jump start back up, and its a real pain. My question is, I've had a 300 watt phoenix gold amp in the truck for about a year, and have not had any problems (as well as a musical dixie horn). Me and my friend bridged the amp, and about a week later had these problems.
Now, before I forget, about a month before I bridged the amp, I had this problem one night pulling my truck in the garage, it had sat for about 5 hours, and when i turned the key nothing happened, everything was dim in the truck. I wiggled the positive batter connection, and it fired, and was fine. Now I have the amp bridged, changed the positive wire, and the truck still did it. I got it running the day before I left for college, and it had been sitting for 3 weeks now, and when my dad started it today to get through the snow, the truck was dead again.
Now after I bored you with this story, is it possible that by bridging my amp, the amp is drawing so much power to kill the batttery every night? Or could the batter be bad, or the alternator, or possibly the negative battery cable? I'm lost here!
Also, my stupid friend hooked the amp to the cellonoid, not the battery, is this a problem maybe? God help me please!
tempe its on the alt, helps make generate electricity i think. prolly burnt the cellenoid up and it isnt chargin ur battery up. get the alt tested. u shouldnt have a problem with 300w unless ur runnin a lawnmower battery...
hooking it to the solenoid shouldnt be a problem and it definetly wouldnt kill your battery if it was connected to the post that goes to your starter. whenever the trucks off the amp would be too. it could be your battery is old and could have froze if u live where theres snow mine did in my f150
more rangerstation people i thought i got rid of all u by coming here. just kidding you guys were great help. i wont be going back there too much cause i just sold my ranger
