Nah. The average price spread in my area is 17%. $2.28 vs $2.76. And remember your E85 engine gets about 15% LESS mileage so it's basically a wash. You're paying less but using more.
We were just discussing this last night here... My neighbor has been running it for about 6 months and documenting it, and he's actually at between 19-20% less MPG. He's going back to 87 now.
I just filled up here with e85, first time with this truck and it was 2.09 vs 2.69 for 87 octane. I figured that at 40cents/gal difference, i was breaking even. So I thought I would see how the Ford runs on it. Made my 07 Chev bark when it got a snoot full of that stuff.
F-1Fiddy, Let us know what you think about the E85. I am planning a 3000 mile trip in a couple of months, not towing, just the wife and I and the dog. I would like to know if I stopped at a place that sold it, would it be worth it.
Can you use E-85 anytime or do you have to wait til you are on empty before switching over.
As long as your truck can run on flex fuel, you don't have to wait until your tank is empty; you can run it straight or any mixture of regular gas and e85.
