K im looking at putting a brush guard or a bull bar on my truck but i wanted to see some pics of what some different ones look like? so if u could post some pic's please and say what type they are.
It's saved my truck from 2 new front ends when people have decided to back into me or clip my front end.
It's also pushed dumpsters, cars, etc, and it's pretty stout. It's coming up on wear but it still looks great.
Here's a pic of mine in the garage. Don't kid yourself when you see the pic... my truck has about 3" in front of the truck before the door, and probably 4" in the rear. It is a real bitch getting it in the garage. Oh, and I know it's not an F150, so I have attached a pic of the one from RH's website. I am posting my truck to show you how they look in general.
You'll get what you pay for, so do your homework. The majority of these type "guards" are pretty flimsy (same as bumpers). The good ones are pretty heavy too, so you'll want some help doing the installation.
Thanks Goodwin. The Tundra's nice... has a lot of power, great powertrain, and everything, but it lacks in the truck aspect.
Ford's truck with Tundra's powertrain and it's the ultimate half ton.
Yesterday I had 720 lbs in the back along with a 300 lb passenger (I grossed out at 6920 lbs) and it was sagging maybe an inch, inch and a half. I didn't notice the weight going up steep hills (never kicked out of overdrive) or getting onto the highway.
Factory weight of the truck is around 5400-5500. I technically run at 5900 lbs with me in it and my modifications.
With all that said, my next truck will be an F150, preferably a low mileage 2003 SCrew FX4 lol
Back to the guards though... the flimsy ones are just that, flimsy. The HD ones are nice for low speed bumps like I've had and just typical intimidation factor. It will marginally protect you in a higher speed collision I would assume, but without any tests actually done on it, I don't know an actual answer.
My guard weighs 112 lbs. My stock suspension sagged .25" inch, but the new coils and shocks can take the weight now. From all the F150s I've seen with the RH brush guards, they don't seem to suffer from that problem.
but instead of the bars being chrome have them black.
i dont really wanna mess wit springs or anthing now cause would rather spend money on exhaust or somethin else.
Also i dont think the toyota looks bad at all and thats sweet that they actually peform like a real truck.
Goodwin, you should be fine with a HD brush guard. I had mine on my truck like 2 years before I upgraded coils. If I didn't have the desire to have a leveled truck, I would have left it as is...
