Since headers to replace the stock exhaust manifolds don't exist and most likely won't, has anyone had their stock manifolds extrudehoned? I think this would be a worthwhile upgrade for guys with turbos as it would increase the flow which should decrease the spool time and increase the boost. I am interested in results if anyone has done this.
I agree with you guys on this one. Matter of fact one of my future projects will be fabbibg up a freer flowing manifold system for these engines. As was pointed out by Star awhile back the driversside maniflod is real restrictive. I know it will be easier for me to do with the boddy lift as it gives more room to route the exhaust but if it works out I may try it on a stock truck as well. If all goes well I will post it on here so anyone can make them up if they wish.
yes with a tubing bender , welding wire, and time you could fabricate a header to run to a turbo. question , what would you use as a gaskets? the stock manifold gaskets?
I plan to use 3/8 plate for the flanges as well and our machines at work can make the them for me. I also plan to use heavy wall tubing and 3" sch 40 pipe for the manifolds. When and if I find a turbo for this truck that I can afford I will try to fab up a system that goes over the top of the bellhouseing rather than under it. As i said with this 4" lift i now have more room in there than I know what to do with lol.
