Question Grille Covers/Blankets

Hello,

I have seen several trucks this winter with covers over the front end. I assume to keep the temps up. Is this a good idea? If so does anyone know the techncal name for them and/or where to purchase one?
Thanks

I use one and it make one heck of a difference. The truck jumps right up to temp while running down the road, does not overheat. Mine is home-made from Smoked Plexiglass, I cut out for the FORD logo in the grill, and for the block heater plug to hang out as well.

I bought a "cold-front" grille screen from Lund, and placed a piece of heavy duty insulation on the back side of it so it will stop the air from coming in , and keep the heat from getting out. Works great with warming the truck up, and keeping it warm when i have to make quick stops. Looks allot better than a piece of cardboard zip-tied to your grille

I've had Lund cold fronts on my truck every winter since '96, and, honestly, other than looking real cool, I really haven't noticed any difference in the time it take to warm-up, or, operating temps.
When the weather warms up to about 70, or so, and it's time to hook up the 30' RV, I take them off to keep the fan in neutral.
Spend the money if you've got it!

HoseDog - this is why i put some insulation on the back-side of the Cold Front before i attached it to my grille. So the cold air couldnt get in the grille , and the warm air couldnt get out when the truck was parked. I have noticed a huge difference in warm up time , as well as how long the motor keeps the heat in....

JOEBOOST- I'll give it a try, maybe next winter (because we've had a real light winter this year).
Thanks

Ya , I ordered my "cold-front" directly from Lund , and i think it was close to $70 with shipping to my door. It is kinda allot of cash for something so smiple , but the fit is perfect , and i can re-use it winter after winter...............
