recentley bought a 1985 f-150, after sitting for two weeks it just dump the transmission fluid, so i relpaced the real seal in the transmission, filled it up with transmission fluid ,drove it and no leaks, 2 weeks later it dump the fluid again, after a closer look the fluid is not leaking from around the outside of the slip yoke shaft but is leaking through the inside the shaft out the back of the yoke, what am i missing
There's an "O" ring on the output shaft that is either worn or missing.
It seals inside of the slip yoke to prevent this.
You will probably have to remove the extension housing to replace it.
i have the diagrahm and its called a spline seal, dropping this extension housing is something i can do in the drive weay? looks like six bolts and a gasket, that output shaft isnt going to want to come out also, anything to whatch out for other than a big pan to catch the fluid
thanks again
