My 86 bronco II died a month ago. Have fire but no fuel. Took pump off..tested pumps...they work, checked all grounds ( around battery also) and links, relays and fuses. All appear OK, clean and working. Last but not least, have replaced the brain(twice, thinking they must have given me the wrong one)...nothing. I called ford to double check cross ref #'s. I have power but nothing coming out the brain to the pumps and injectors. I tested wires with no shorts found. I did add ground to fuel relay and got pump working, pressure on the rail but injectors will not let fuel in...but pump will run all the time(high pressure) and its not suppose to....still not right. Even bypassed switch for injectors and got the truck running. This will not work though. Any ideas? Is there an ignition prob?...also replaced pick-up and button/cap. This has a lot of guys puzzled. Oh, the brain will not kick out my codes either? Not giving up!
I read this to my husband who put a motor in his '87 Ranger and had problem after problem. REady? Here we go!
Check the (crank sensor, cam sensor or tach wire) connection. If the connection is bad to one of those sensors, the computer wont get the reading that the engine is turning over. If it isnt sensing that the engine is turning over, it's not going to turn the injectors. It could have one of these 3 sensors, (check Haynes manual). I have an '86 B2, but we're not sure what it is.
the 86 had the crank sensor and the tac wire breaks all the time in these. myne did this to for about 20 mins. turned out a wire had fatigued so check all the sensor wiring to.
