Clevis to Receiver Hitch

Does anyone know if there is an adaptor that will go from a drawbar (clevis style) hitch to a drop down ball?

I'm needing to pull a ball hitch trailler and my DMI hitch sits at 22" without the ball even mounted. Any suggestions?

DMI eventually figured it out... their 1st generation of cushion hitches was awful. Not that I'm a fan of any cushion hitch on a pickup.

Other than building one yourself, you will not easily find an adapter.

Yep. I've seen a few of those around. I'm using another pickup to pull the tailer now.

The cushion style hitches are amazing. Especially if your pulling various farm trailers and what not. My truck probably would have fallen apart years ago from pulling anhydrous tanks around.

We do run into the same problem with our tractors, but we utilize the 3-point and make a lowered drawbar with a bar on it.

Why don't you like cushion hitches on pickups?? I'm just curious.

I wouldn't be without one. I have what you pictured. Hooking up to various trailers, wagons, tanks, it's great being able to swing the hitch to get things hooked.

You may have to make a drop hitch that just bolts to your current hitch.

Too much slop in cushion hitches. I like my truck and trailer to stop together, and go together. Keep the trailer brakes good and you eliminate the jerkyness of a rigid hitch.

Past that, it is one more thing to keep greased, and when those springs eventually wear out... one more thing to maintain.

I can't argue with the concern for slop in the hitch. The DMI I have is actually very tight.
But when half the trailers/wagons being pulled have no brakes and can weigh 5k-20k lbs, while driving through fields, those springs are a God-send.

I can see offroad benefits. We generally use tractors moving things like broadcasters, tanks and rakes offroad...

Ditto. Mine's getting pretty old and does have a little play in it. It's not a big deal but you get used to it.

Tractors are too slow!!
Pulling NH3 tanks back and forth to the co-op is a nightmare without cushion hitches. About every truck any co-op around here have cushion hitches. You get two of those tanks hooked together doing about 30-40mph down the road, hit a bump and it feels like it's tearing your bumper off.

69- get your hitch figured out?
Got all the seed corn planted and growing?

I ended up using a different pickup to haul the trailer with the ball hitch.

Everything is planted and looking good... except for all the rain we've been getting. Thank god the forecast is sunny everyday this week.

Side-dressing was an ugly nightmare, but luckily we were able to mud in herbicide.
