It seems to me the wiper motor out of adjustment? What is happening is the wipers hit the molding on the windshield by the cowl quite hard.
I was thinking that the wiper arm may need to be removed and reinstalled on the do-hicky thing? (I would use the the term "whatchamecallit" but that i a candy bar and I do not wish to confuse anyone)

Reason: added info
You can pop them off and reattach at a lesser angle; hoepfully that will take some of the slop out John mention. Atleast stop them from hitting the gasket & windshield trim if your model has it on it. Just a quick fix I'm sure
I looked in the books yesterday, theres no listing for just the nylon bushings that are in the connecting linkage...only the washer that goes over the pivot after the linkage is on it and the clip that holds it all together. Look at yours and see what you have under there on yours.
I will look to see if the linkage parts are available.
Update...all of the parts are available...look at yours with a good light..what colors are the linkage parts?? They can be either silver or black. Note which side is which color in case they are different. Also, do you have single speed or 2 speed wipers ??
