The closest I could find was 35999-S in the body parts catalogue and it is an 8-32.

Not real confident in that but it's a start.

Hey thanks for that Julie, will see what others have to say and go from there. Its a bit of a pain being on the other side of the world were most fasters etc are metric and you can't just head down to the local pic a part for a look!! I have been following progress on your truck over the last year or so and its looking good well done! cheers Kiwi

Goodluck with those fasteners Kiwi--I hear ya about mess with all the different "threads" etc. We have that here too . Lots of my trucks are half metric half non metric. It will probably be that for ions to come. I have two sets of tools and sometimes don't know which to use. I accept it but its an inconvenience isn't it?

If you do I'll go out and measure mine for you. I just want to make sure we are talking about the same part.

COWL THREADS

Hey Kiwi, I'm with Julie on this one. If you are talking about the little caged nuts under the cowl. I'm 99% sure it's a 8-32 thread, not metric. Hope this helps

It just takes a "womans touch!"

And yes, those are machine screws with hex heads, not nuts, they are #8-32s by 1/2 inch. The 8-32 nuts are contained in welded on housings under the cover channel that hold them in place.

Here is a better pic of the cover installed:

Well how about that!! Thanks Julie.Very interesting as the vent i have is very different in that the "channel" on the underside is not open on the ends like yours (must be a model change or the like) mine is a real rust trap and had a nut crimped into the hole shown in my picture but was so far gone i am unable to identify the thread!! Maybe i need to re think how we go about tooling up to make our cowl vents as your version would seem a better style. Kind regards Kiwi

Yours did look different. I wonder if someone "fixed" it, or possibly it was a Canadian Variant that was tooled a bit different.

I know mine is stock for 51 and was NOS when I bought it to install (none there wne I bought the truck). But no doubt the theads on mone and in the parts manual specify #8-32
