Hey guys been lurking around for a long time and just recently started to participate. I did the DPF/CAT Delete this past weekend running Spartans 250HP. I was wondering if these temperatures I am seeing are normal.
ECT: 192 spiked to 195 jumping on it today.
EOT: 197.6 spiked to 201.4 jumping on it today.
TFT: 180. fluctuates between 170-180
EFTI: 108
Temp outside was 75*
Just don't want to find myself always starring at the gauges like I did with my 7.3L. It drove me nuts always worrying about the temps in that thing. Thanks!
eng temps can run around 195 for me...spartan or not, that is about an average temp. Clutch fan will kick on around 220-225F. So I have the Banks IQ, don't know if you can do the same but I set alerts for EOT at 220F.
Tranny temps are around 170-180. Every once in a while when pulling hard maybe 200, 210F. So I have that set at 220F as well, it can take that for a few.
Everything that Senix said. I love having the dashdaq! When I was plowing I was able to find out how to angle the plow perfectly to keep temps down.
And the real concern with using a hot tune will effect the EGT's. A 1420 alarm is good, as Senix said... I like to keep a close eye on them as hot tunes increase EGT temps a lot.
Thanks for the great reponses fella's. Senix, I like your settings and think I will adjust mine now. So what does EFTI stand for? Maybe Intake temperature or something?
Just an FYI, the banks that I am using along with the IQ maintains all the factory safeties so it does not monitor EFTI, or maybe it does but that does not come up on display.
Maybe Astamp78 know what that is.
I would also say when towing, be closer to the stock program for safe towing. Highest EGT I have ever recorded has been 1406 BTW, even when towing at max wt up 6% grades at 70 mph.
Thanks guys! Had the EGTRA alarm yell at me today for the first time when I got on it getting on the freeway this morning. I hit 1450 I believe and then the warning sounded. I think it was due to my tires just spinning off the rims getting no traction so the turbo's could spool more and get the air in, out fast enough. It's next to impossible to launch this thing in 2WD with the 250HP tune. That is the only thing I have seen so far, don't think it hurt anything. It sounded for about a second and I was out of it. My EOT hits 202 occasionally, but Jeff says that's normal so I guess all is well.
I will be towing soon and plan to load the 210 tow tune for that. For now though, I cannot keep the grin off my face when I drive this thing. I feel like a school kid all over again.

Mine yells at me every time I get on it hard, it's not a huge concern as long as it's only for a couple seconds. My EOT was 208 on a 400km trip I did today but it was fairly hot outside and I was doing 85mph. Your temps that you posted above sound completely normal to me, enjoy the new found power.

How long did you hold that 1406? With the dashdaq you can set whatever parameters you like. But I just use the ones that are pre programmed. You can make it beep, or have a visual cue. Does Banks offer you a towing tune? I really love the Spartan 210hp towing tune. The shifting is great, and seems to stay as cool as stock. If you really hammer on it you can heat it up pretty good though. I've noticed that when at a slightly higher RPM your EGT's tend to run cooler. I guess its just flowing more air through.
Just FYI, down here in hot weather climate when I tow my coolant temps are always 208 - 225 when I tow. Oil temps are the same, peak at 226 when the coolant fan comes on and makes it sound like there is a tornado under the hood.
These are on a stock engine with fresh coolant and a new radiator towing medium weight, ambient temperature 90 - 100 degrees most days. Stock EGT peaks at 1350.
My temps are the same as you guys when the outside air is under 90 degrees. Rarely see anything over 200.
